The hand value of KK is a strong hand as well and is commonly called as the cowboys. It ranks 2nd to the monster hand of AA. The QQ known as ladies have the upper hands of jacks and below card values. The AK can be a strong yet a tricky hand and gives a very strong drawing hand on the flop when a player gets an ace pair or kings.
The pair of jacks can win almost 20% at all times except when the ace, king and queen show up. The second best drawing hand is given by the suited AQ tandem. The KQ can also be a good drawing hand except when an ace shows up.
Playing AJ starting hands can be a good drawing hand when suited but is still fairly playable when unsuited. The KJ combination can be a good hand to play particularly in a later position but it can be beaten by the above higher ranking hand values. It is best to fold this hand when playing this hand on high raises.
The worst starting hands are basically hand values lower than the above card combinations. These include the pairs of any numbers below ten and these are hands that should be folded. Players should also take note that any number with a value below 10 paired with an ace is not worth playing especially when on a raise.
Keeping a note on which pairs give a good and the bad starting hands will give poker players a significant clue whether their hand is worth playing or folding.
